Rainbet Sportsbook India — what it covers and what the law says

The Rainbet sportsbook runs 50+ markets across 30-plus sports on the same wallet as the casino, with pre-match and in-play odds and tens of thousands of events priced each month. For an Indian audience the relevant question is a narrower one — how good is the cricket — and the answer is that cricket is one of the book’s stronger sections, particularly in-play.

The legal position first, because on this page it is unavoidable. Sports betting for money is an online money game under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, and offering it in India is prohibited, offshore operators expressly included. There is no sports carve-out. What follows describes the product; it does not recommend using it from India. The legal page has the detail.

Cricket: the section that matters here

Cricket coverage spans the formats you would expect a serious book to price. T20 leagues are the centre of it — the IPL above all, with live betting supported through the tournament — alongside the other major franchise competitions. International cricket covers T20Is, ODIs, Test series and the global white-ball tournaments. Bilateral series are priced through the calendar rather than only at the marquee events.

Market depth on a well-covered fixture typically includes match winner, top batter and top bowler, total runs and match/innings totals, method-of-dismissal derivatives, over-by-over markets and a range of session and player props. Outright markets on tournament winner, top run-scorer and top wicket-taker run alongside.

In-play is where the book is most used for cricket, and it is worth understanding the mechanics before assuming it is a smooth experience. Prices reprice ball by ball through a T20 innings and swing violently on wickets and boundaries. Markets suspend at the moment of a delivery and reopen once the outcome is settled — a bet that fails to place mid-over has usually hit a suspension rather than a bug. There is also an unavoidable latency question: a broadcast feed runs seconds behind the live event, so the odds you are reacting to are already stale relative to the ground. That asymmetry is structural in every in-play book and it never runs in the bettor’s favour.

Football, tennis, motorsport and the rest

Football is the deepest section by volume, covering the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Champions League and international tournaments, with 1X2, Asian handicaps, over/unders, both-teams-to-score, corners, cards and player props.

Tennis runs through the Grand Slam calendar and the ATP and WTA tours, with match winner, set betting, game handicaps and total games.

Basketball covers the NBA and EuroLeague with spreads, totals and player props. Formula 1 offers race winner, podium, fastest lap and constructor markets, with the same shape applied to MotoGP. Combat sports cover UFC and boxing on fight winner, method and round markets.

American sports — NFL, MLB, NHL — are priced fully, which matters less for an Indian audience but means the book is not thin outside its headline categories.

Esports

Esports is a genuine section rather than a token one. Counter-Strike 2, Valorant and League of Legends carry the deepest coverage — match winner, map handicap, total maps, first-map markets — across the tier-one circuits, with other titles appearing around major tournaments.

Two honest observations. Esports odds are generally looser than mainstream football, because the modelling is younger and the liquidity thinner; that cuts both ways and is not automatically an edge. And roster changes matter far more than in traditional sport — a single substitution can invalidate whatever form read the price was built on.

How the wallet and rewards interact

There is one account and one balance. Money does not need moving between a sports wallet and a casino wallet, and there is no separate sportsbook registration.

Rewards accrue across both sides, but not equally. Sportsbook turnover counts at an enhanced weighting in the leaderboard races relative to casino play, which is a deliberate structural incentive toward sports betting. A $500,000 sports prize pool runs on top of the general promotions. Rakeback and VIP progression are covered on the VIP page; the promotional terms are on the bonuses page.

Read the enhanced weighting for what it is: an inducement to increase sports turnover. It does not change the margin built into the prices you are betting into.

The margin, and why it decides everything

Every sportsbook price carries an overround — the bookmaker’s margin, visible as the amount by which the implied probabilities of all outcomes exceed 100%. On a two-way market a competitive crypto book might run 3–5%; on a deep cricket prop or a thin esports market it will be materially wider.

That margin is the structural reason sports betting is a losing proposition in aggregate, and it compounds with turnover. Promotions that reward volume — leaderboard races, enhanced weightings, prize pools — increase turnover, and increased turnover increases the total margin paid. The mechanics that look like generosity are the mechanics that make the margin work.

None of that is unique to Rainbet. It is how the product is built everywhere.

Where Indian law leaves this

The Act’s definition captures sports betting without ambiguity: a stake, placed in expectation of monetary gain, on an uncertain outcome. The old argument that skill-based prediction should sit outside gambling law does not survive the 2025 definition, which applies irrespective of whether the game is based on skill or chance — and the Supreme Court’s decision in State of Tamil Nadu v. Junglee Games on 27 May 2026 confirmed that staking money on an uncertain outcome is treated as betting under Entry 34 of List II, keeping state prohibitions alive alongside the central Act.

Enforcement is directed at the supply side. MeitY reported 8,376 betting and gambling URLs blocked or actioned by 28 March 2026. Banks and payment systems are barred from processing the transactions, which is why no UPI, netbanking or Indian card route reaches a book like this one. The offences fall on operators, payment facilitators and advertisers rather than on the individual bettor — a real distinction, and a narrow one, explained properly on the legal page.

If you follow cricket and the temptation is to have money on it, the honest framing is that the law has closed this route deliberately and the margin was never in your favour anyway. Our responsible gambling page lists independent support; Tele-MANAS is free on 14416 and covers gambling among the issues it handles.

Frequently asked questions

Does Rainbet cover cricket and the IPL?

Yes — cricket is one of the sportsbook's stronger sections and it supports live betting on the major T20 competitions including the IPL, alongside T20 and ODI internationals, Test series and the global white-ball tournaments. In-play is where it is most used, with markets repricing through a T20 innings. Placing those bets for money from India is prohibited under the Online Gaming Act, 2025.

Is sports betting legal in India?

Not online, for money. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits online money games, defined as games played for a stake in the expectation of monetary gain irrespective of skill or chance, and sports betting falls inside that definition. The Supreme Court reinforced the point in State of Tamil Nadu v. Junglee Games (2026 INSC 594) on 27 May 2026, holding that staking money on an uncertain outcome is betting under Entry 34 of List II. Several states operate their own prohibitions on top of the central Act.

Does the sportsbook use the same balance as the casino?

Yes. One account, one wallet, no transfer step between sports and casino. Rakeback and VIP progression accrue across both, and sportsbook turnover counts at an enhanced rate in the loyalty races compared with casino play.

Does Rainbet offer in-play betting?

Yes, pre-match and live markets both. In-play is the sportsbook's most-used feature for cricket in particular, where odds move ball by ball through a T20 innings. Live betting depends on a stable connection and on the operator's latency — a market can suspend mid-tap when a wicket falls, which is normal behaviour rather than a fault.

What esports can I bet on?

Counter-Strike 2, Valorant and League of Legends carry the deepest coverage, with match winner, map handicap and total-maps markets on the tier-one circuits. Dota 2 and other titles appear around major tournaments. Esports pricing is generally looser than mainstream football because the modelling is younger and liquidity is thinner.

Is there a sports welcome bonus?

The welcome offer is a deposit match rather than a sports-specific free bet, and it applies across the platform. The more relevant sports mechanics are the ongoing ones: rakeback, the leaderboard races where sportsbook turnover counts at a higher weighting than casino play, and a $500,000 sports prize pool. See the bonuses page for the terms attached to each.
